Where to find us?

Sauna Ostara is situated 80m east of Nairn Leisure Centre.

We encourage sauna customers to walk, cycle or use sustainable forms of transport where possible. If you do decide to come by car there is a small car park next to the Leisure Centre and ample parking slightly further afield at the Links Car Park (5min walk).

Sauna Ostara was born on the Spring Equinox, hence the name.

Built and run by family members Fynn, Madeleine and Clare to bring cosy sauna sessions nestled in nature looking out over the Moray Firth.

The Build

Sauna Ostara is a converted horsebox, wood-fired sauna. We designed it and did all the building ourselves (I say we, but really Fynn did most of the build!).

We decided on a Narvi tunnel stove which sits at the front of the horsebox so we can feed it from the outside.

We have used high-quality thermal alder for the cladding and benches. Alder has many good qualities - it is heat resistant and low resin content - making it ideal for saunas. It is also a beautiful wood that will give the sauna a cosy feel and as the wood heats up it gives off a lovely sweet, woody scent.

The build took about four months to complete. It was a lot of evenings and weekends working non-stop, lots of problem solving but seeing it all take shape has been very rewarding.
