Sauna Ostara was created to offer locals and visitors the chance to experience Scandinavian sauna tradition immersed in nature. The name Ostara comes from the Celtic wheel of the seasons, symbolising a time of rejuvenation, balance, and connection — a fitting reflection of communal sauna culture and the restorative power of deep heat exposure.
Sauna Ostara envisions being a cosy, welcoming space to relax and reconnect, bringing the calming and healing benefits of traditional sauna to the beachfront of Nairn. Our aim is to create an environment where people can slow down, unwind, and reconnect with nature, while supporting both mental and physical well-being.
Sauna Ostara was created by Fynn and Madeleine, with the help of Fynn’s sister, Clare. Now based in Nairn, we share a deep love for the outdoors, the environment, and community.
Madeleine is from Sweden — so there was never any need to convince her of the benefits of sauna culture — while Fynn and Clare grew up in Kingussie, spending most of their time outdoors and developing a strong connection to nature from an early age.
Sauna Ostara was born from a love of wild swimming and time spent in nature, along with a deep appreciation for the physical and mental wellbeing these experiences can bring.
Our hope is that the sauna becomes a positive addition to the thriving Nairn community: a space that encourages connection, wellbeing, and care for both the environment and the people who call this place home.
