Sauna Ostara was created to enable locals and visitors to experience scandi sauna tradition immersed in nature. Ostara comes from the Celtic wheel of seasons and means a time for rejuvenation, balance, and connection - a fitting alignment with communal sauna tradition and deep heat exposure.
Sauna Ostara envisions being a cosy space to relax and reconnect, bringing the calming and healing power of traditional saunas to the beachfront of Nairn. Our goal is to offer a space to unwind, reconnect with nature, and cultivate mental and physical well-being.
Sauna Ostara was created and built by Fynn and Madeleine who live in Nairn, with the help of Fynn’s sister Clare. We all share a deep love for the outdoors, the environment and community.
Madeleine is from Sweden (so no need selling her on the benefits of sauna tradition!) and Fynn and Clare grew up in Kingussie spending most of their time in the outdoors.
Sauna Ostara was borne out of a love for wild swimming and spending time in nature, understanding the physical and mental health benefits it brings.
We want the sauna to be a positive addition to the thriving Nairn community and help foster care for both the environment and the people who live here.
